On the afternoon of New Year's Eve, 2009, I went to the beach in my home of Huntington Beach, to walk my dogs. As the sun set, in the sky to the west, against the clouds and over Catalina Island appeared what looked a lot like a missle or rocket trail, shooting upwards into the sky.
News reports from the days after claimed that it was just a jet stream from an airliner going to Hawaii from Orange County airport, but if you were on the beach that day, you could see that the direction of the jet stream was almost straight up. Mysterious.. The next day, as I had already planned and had been packing the two weeks before, I moved away from California.
This loop, titled 'Catalina' is the last loop made on my Norelco Continental 400 open reel, on the same day. It had an open circuit board, which constantly shocked me, and is one reason I left it behind for the garbage.
